Want to know what’s holding you back in your business?
Maybe you feel like you’ve hit a plateau.
Maybe you’re not making as much as you’d like.
Maybe you’re just not sure where to focus next.
With over a decade of experience growing our business, Six Sisters’ Stuff, from a hobby to a 7-figure a year empire, we’ve realized a lot of things along the way – including the ways that we hold ourselves back in business.
Sure, external factors matter, too, but your mindset and practices will make you or break you. Here are 5 that we’ve seen time and time again.
You’re Treating Your Business as a Hobby.
If you are treating your business like a hobby, it will pay you like a hobby (spoiler alert: a hobby does not have great returns when it comes to making money.)
If you aren’t already, you need to start treating your business like an ACTUAL business – because it is one! That means you need to dedicate time for your business, not just squeeze it in when you can.
You’re Not Setting Boundaries.
It can be very easy as an entrepreneur to work yourself to the bone and burnout quickly.
Hustle culture is not all it’s cracked up to be.
In fact, taking breaks and setting limits on what you will or won’t take on can help you even more in the long run. Business boundaries are your best friend as an entrepreneur!
It’s okay to take a day off. If you’re working on a big project, you can let other stuff take a backseat. There is no gold medal for burning yourself out in order to succeed.

You’re Trying to be Everywhere at Once.
It can be tempting to want to grow every part of your business at once.
Unfortunately, unless you’ve got a big team backing you up, that’s just not realistic. With limited bandwidth and a small (or nonexistent) team, you’re better off focusing on three things:
- ONE social media channel
- ONE main product or offer
- Building an email list
Once you feel like you have a system down or you have started to see growth, THEN you can add more.
You’re Not Being Honest with Yourself.
Honestly looking at your work habits is important.
Could you be working less distracted? Are you doing things that are more fluff than deep work? Is this something that you really want to do or is it maybe time to pivot or hire it out? Are you doing things that really move the needle?
If you want to succeed, you need to be able to be honest with yourself.
You’re Being a Perfectionist.
Are you always “waiting for the right time” or want to make sure everything is “just right” before you launch? Nope.
Time to throw out that idea. It will NEVER be the right time. Things will always happen – especially when you’re trying to get something out there.
DONE is better than perfect. And someone who imperfectly puts themselves out there is going to outperform someone who keeps delaying everything because it “could be better.”
Is Your Mindset Holding You Back?
You probably noticed most of these are all about business mindset. Being more aware of how you operate in your business – even in your head – can help you get to the next level in your business.
