Get Passionate About Business And Fall In Love All Over Again
You want passion? We’ve got it.
You want a little love in your business life? We’ve got that too.
We’re not serving up secret love affairs at the office (at least I can’t help you with that), but we can present you with a ton of great content by the b5 Business Channel team on passion and love. Hey, it is Valentine’s Day after all.
- Ron Elizondo presents In brand (LOVE) we trust… Ron says brands certainly can be loved, and dish it out too, but it takes a ton of effort and planning. He uses the term, “getting Strategically Creative” which I think is great. Brands aren’t made lovable by accident after all…
- Jim Norton reminds us of the importance of passion in business. This quote jumped off the page at me, “Many religions describe Heaven as a place where we would not want for anything. I’m sorry that sounds like Hell to me.”
- Mary Emma Allen serves up a great list of inspirational books to help home-business owners (and all business owners) succeed. The common thread throughout them is the need for desire and passion in order to ignite something successful and positive.
- Darlene McDaniel has 5 ingredients to courting your next job . She says that finding the right company is like wooing women back in the olden days (I’d say women woo men these days right?) It’s clear you need to bring effort and passion to the game if you want to get a great job with a great company.
- Des Walsh reminds us that you better love blogging if you’re going to do it otherwise it will show and reflect poorly on you and your business.
- Maricel Ferrer-Custodio is wondering about the genuine versus commercial value of Valentine’s Day. We all know that flower shops and the Hallmarks of the world score big at this time of year, and their efforts are not entirely genuine. Maricel reminds us that being truly genuine, all the time, will help you succeed.
- Liz Strauss breaks the mold (surprise, surprise) with a Valentine’s Day poem to bloggers titled, Five Minutes: A Blogging Valentine. A few standout phrases: “verbal volleyball”, “a lifetime in 300 seconds”, “not strangers anymore…we’ve been friends for five minutes…”
- Mark Herpel fell in love at first sight…with his laptop. No, this isn’t meant to be creepy, honest.
- Eric Eggertson presents Barenaked Passion Leads to Music Industry Success for the Ladies. What’s he talking about? Well for us Canadians it was obvious right away - Eric’s talking about The Barenaked Ladies, a music group out of Toronto. What’s important to remember is that promotion of yourself or business is all about passion, and his post gives you some ideas on how The Barenaked Ladies pull that off with garage band tactics (think guerilla/buzz marketing for music.)
- Rico Mossesgeld suggests that you love yourself, but not too much! Don’t let your self-love blind you…Rico’s got a good point and the start of a few knock-knock jokes too. The reality is that you need ego to succeed in business, which is a form of self-love, but balancing that is important too.
- Sean Kelly has pulled out some quotes from famous people that are dripping with inspiration and passion. Best ones, in my book, are from Mark Twain (the first one), Henry David Thoreau and Henny Youngman.
- Tris Hussey presents Ah Passion, the Ultimate Work Pimp which is a great reminder that all the tools and processes in the world can’t replace passion. Plus he suggests taking a break to relax if the passion is waning.
Well I’m chock full of passion, how about you?
I hope you enjoyed this b5media Business Channel Theme Day Presentation. Check out the great blogs, and this list of amazing posts.

Thanks for putting these quotes together. They each give some insight into each writers personality. It’s a good group. Which brings up the only down side of the virtural world and that’s the inability to get everybody together at a bar for a beer.

Top job Ben
When we agreed to do this I was not wildly enthusiastic. Actually I was underwhelmed. But the result is great and if I hadn’t done it I might not have found the very inspiring Steve Jobs speech from which I quote in my post.

Nice job, Ben. Thanks for hosting.
Unfortunately, my comment on Mark’s site regarding our mutual love for Sony Vaio might actually cause you to upgrade his post to “Creepy.”

Thanks for the collections of excerpts. They say lots about the writers. It’s a good group. Now for a major downside of cyber space. We can’t all go down to the bar for a few beers together. It sounds like that would be fun with this group.

Enjoyed this post thoroughly, and discovered an interesting branding blog through it. Question is: when is Ron Elizondo going to stop talking in the abstract and share some practical tips?
